About the Client
Our client is an international service provider active in over 40 countries, specializing in claims automation. With over 1 million claims handled annually β from routine auto damage to complex marine, storm, and fire claims β the organization combines deep domain knowledge with a forward-thinking approach to digital transformation. One of the main business lines is IT, which includes three core divisions: proprietary software development, infrastructure & security, and data services. We are specifically headhunting for the Software development department of the company in Lisbon.
The Role
The Product Director will lead the Product Development business unit, a multidisciplinary team of approximately 50 professionals, including Product Owners, Software Developers, and Technical Specialists.
The role demands both strategic vision and operational execution. Youβll act as the bridge between business strategy and software development, helping the organization evolve its proprietary platform β currently predominantly built in Outsystems β into a flexible, scalable, and potentially tech-diversified product landscape.
You’ll report to executive leadership and engage directly with the COO and board on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities
Product Leadership & Development
β’ Lead and support a cross-functional team of ~50 specialists
β’ Drive the transition of proprietary software into a scalable SaaS solution for external clients
β’ Identify and propose improvements to architecture, performance, and long-term maintainability
β’ Explore options to complement the current Outsystems environment with other technologies
β’ Collaborate closely with the finance team to improve integration with financial systems
β’ Reorganize and optimize team structures and workflows
β’ Communicate clearly and confidently with business stakeholders and the development team β managing expectations, risks, and delivery timelines
β’ Represent the product and tech roadmap at the board level

Strategic & Financial Oversight
β’ Support budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning for the development unit
β’ Contribute to pricing strategies, cost analysis, and commercial decision-making
β’ Provide regular financial insights related to product initiatives and performance, helping to make data-driven decisions
β’ Ensure that product goals and investments are aligned with the overall financial health and long-term strategy of the company
Your Profile
β’ Strong experience in product leadership in tech or IT services (10+ years)
β’ Proven success managing and scaling development teams
β’ Deep understanding of software architecture, delivery models, and development workflows
β’ Experience with Outsystems or other low-code platforms is a plus
β’ Able to think strategically and communicate realistic, actionable goals to cross-functional teams
β’ Skilled at identifying bottlenecks, risks, and trade-offs in complex technical environments
β’ Background in insurance, claims, or similarly regulated sectors is a bonus
β’ Fluent in Portuguese and English (required)
β’ EU citizenship is required; visa sponsorship is not available
